May 14 - Opening day between the Meteors and the King Cobras is played at the Black Hawks field on a mid-50 degree day. Matt Veto unveils a new team bat and real bases. Thanks to all of those who donated money throughout the year and at the night game especially.
The Cobras win 27-19 in part of a 10 run seventh. Jeff Darras allowed no Meteors runs in the final 3 innings of the game.
Scott Ellefritz says "Does anybody want to go to Fazoli's?" Apparently people did as five VLBers go storm Fazoli's in the first VLB field trip of the season.
May 15 - Jon Escajeda brings Wrigley, his white Siberian huskie. Wrigley takes two dumps and two pees in the dugout. Only Lance McCafferty had gone to the bathroom more times during a Veto League game.
Brett Carlson is overlooked in the draft during game two of a double header. He had 3 RBI to lead his team and hit one of two home-runs in the game. Steve Roberts had the second.
May 18 - The Goonies win their first game of the year in an abbreviated six inning affair. The final was a convincing 34-10 over the Eskimos. Each player on the Goonies had at least 5 hits and 4 RBI. Steve Roberts had 10 RBI in the game.
May 21 - An early postponed game due to lack of players.
May 22 - A double header was played making up for the post poned game on Saturday. Jon Escajeda's Eskimos took a 5-0 shutout into the 7th inning against the Meteors.
Game two was abbreviated due to fatigue more than anything else. The King Cobras fell to the River Bandits 21-3 in six innings.
