The captain class of 2005 are all veteran players to the VLB, however there are two fresh faces in team leadership. Seven-year veteran Jon Escajeda will try his first year at the helm of this year's Eskimos. Three-year veteran Josh "J.P." Paul has filled in as captain multiple times, but this year will challenge the crown held by Scott Ellefritz and the River Bandits.
Rounding out what will be the three teams in the Saukie Division, are the Vandals, captained by Kiel Engstrom. The Vandals fell in their first World Series last year to the River Bandits.
After a disappointing last place finish last year, the King Cobras and captain Lance McCafferty are itching to get the season started hoping to put last year behind them. Last year's VLB World Series champ Scott Ellefritz pulled off last year's five game series in a torrential downpour at the Black Hawks field. Matt Veto and the Meteors aim to make a third consecutive playoff run, but they will have to get past the Cobras and Bandits in the Black Hawk Division.
