Opening Day is Saturday, May 14th, Noon
After playing in almost 30 games last season, last year's Rookie of the Year Jesus Apodaca packed up his gear and headed back to New Mexico thinking he had played his first and last season in the VLB.
Not so.
Jesus was called back for another eight weeks of service at the Rock Island Arsenal and will be at Opening Day ceremonies at Saukie Field this Saturday, May 14th at Noon.
"I'm very excited to take the field again," Apodaca said. "The only thing that's better than handling large weapons is playing in the VLB."
In other VLB news, there will be a surprise unveiling at Saukie Field before the game. Commissioner Matt Veto will make the presentation. The King Cobras and the Meteors will play on Saturday. Sunday's game will also be at noon. Saukie is the first field, Black Hawk second, Legion third.
