The captains for this year's night game will be Mason Overmire's Hitters versus Edwin Moore's Admirals. The captains were selected by Commissioner Matt Veto and President Josh Paul based on their commitment to the league. To date, Overmire has played in 51 games this season while Moore has played a career high 48.
Saldivar Field is located inside Devils Glen Park (1101 Devils Glen Road, Bettendorf). It is the same field the Diamond Kings call "home".
Veto League will once again partner with the River Bend Foodbank to collect non-perishable food donations, the majority of which will be donated right back to area families in need. The River Bend Foodbank serves 22 counties in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. In the 10-year partnership between the two non-profit groups, Veto League Baseball has donated 7,353 pounds of food back to the River Bend Foodbank.
Also, Veto League will be managing a concession stand to satisfy bellies and quench spectator's thirst. All proceeds obtained from concession sales go back into league funds to pay for equipment, field rental and miscellaneous expenses.
Veto League Baseball is a non-profit organization that does not collect dues from players. It is a rare free program based out of the Quad Cities that has hosted 769 players in its 22-year existence. As a tribute to the season's most dedicated members, 24 players are invited to participate in the game. Invites are determined by those who have played the most games throughout the season. The league will play over 60 games in 2019.
