Veto League Baseball will open up its 27th season April 13th and 14th at Ridgewood Field in southwest Rock Island (9607 14th Street West - next to Ridgewood Elementary). Games will begin on both Saturday and Sunday at 10:30.
If you aren't familiar with the league, it's a free co-ed league designed for average ball players. Everyone who shows up on any game day gets selected to a team. Pitches are thrown at batting practice speed to favor the hitting team. No steals are allowed. Everything else is baseball rules as they have been for over 100 years. Bats and some spare gloves are provided. Good times are guaranteed in this mostly non-competitive sandlot-style baseball league.
This years captains include: Alex Miller, Mason Overmire, Branden Bollman, Josh Paul, Kyle Kent and making his coaching debut - Bailey Rericha.
After opening weekend, games will take place on Saturday with a possible week night game decided depending on player interest.
