Quad City River Bandits general manager Stefanie Brown has agreed to host Veto League Baseball once again for VLB’s annual season ending night game to be held at Modern Woodman Park. The tentative date has been set for Monday, August 27, at 7:00 p.m. The Bandits will be on the road August 25 – 28, likely leaving the 27th open to allow a group of average ball players to showcase their talent at one of Single A’s nicest baseball diamonds.
The game will once again be a charity benefit for the River Bend Food Bank. Last year, Veto League was able to donate 890 pounds of food, the majority of which was distributed locally to families in need.
Veto League invites 24 baseball players to play in the 12-on-12 night game contest. To reward the loyalty players have given throughout the spring and summer, Veto League’s night game rosters are filled from the league’s most dedicated players. The top 24 guys based on games played are invited. Captains will be announced at a later date.
Last weekend (June 9-10) marked mid season for Veto League Baseball. To date, Veto League has played 34 games featuring 77 players. The 2012 season has also hosted 47 debuts, which is just 10 short of the record 57 set in 2011. Multiple single season records are in jeopardy of being broken, including:
