When checking Friday afternoon to see the conditions of the field, we found that the Rock Island Parks Department actually catered to the field at some point during the week and got rid of all the weeds in the infield. Unfortunately due to lack of resources, the field at Ridgewood is consistently ignored. This week it was taken care of. However, because they dragged the infield and loosened the dirt, the loose dirt mixed with water was an unfriendly combination for baseball.
Therefore, for the weekend of June 21 and June 22, Veto League Baseball will be playing their games at Jefferson Park in Davenport. As usual, players are asked to meet at 11:30am.
Douglas Park is taken this week for a tournament. And for those wanting to potentially make Jefferson Park a permanent field, it is private and is being made available to The VLB for this week only.
