Rule Changes, Organization Ideas, and More
Veto League players have had enough of the cold. What better way to warm up than discuss the fate of the 2006 season?
Ten current players attended the first ever VLB winter meetings where topics included rule changes, field status, and even featured a motion to require players to run the base path after a home-run.
Although Mitch Heckenkamp's homer motion was denied, he did bring with him several rule ideas that were weighed and eventually passed. Commissioner Matt Veto open the meeting with a list of ultimate goals such as keeping player interest throughout the season, shortening game time, and deflating outrageous scores.
Some ideas tossed around included an arrangement for a Veto League domain name and web host that would be much easier to maintain. A portion of VLB funds will likely be used to develop "www.vetoleague.com." The name would provide athletes with an easy method to suggest a website visit to friends without having to jot down the complicated domain name that currently exists.
The most important topic is field status. Where will the VLB play this season? It is highly likely that QC park and rec departments will be contacted for availability.
A further breakdown of the meetings will be available at a later date.
